Newborn Editing Genious!

OK I know - two posts in one day?! Sometimes it takes me weeks between them, this is insanity! But seriously, I am just TOO EXCITED not to share a quick editing snippit with you all. If you are like me and LOVE photographing sweet newborns, then you know that it can come with many...ummm....challenges? Besides the whole "learning how to handle a 5 pound baby that's naked and pooping in your hand" all while remaining calm, professional, and oh yea - posing them safely and cute-ly for some great photographs...there are also the common "unexpected" items: Jaundice. Acne. Scratches. Redness.

Now, a lot of this can be helped by the way you photograph them (soft light, wide open lens, focus on the eyes, etc.) but it can also require a lot of work in post processing to get to the final, beautiful result. So I was super excited to get the e-mail about MCP Actions new set coming out called "Newborn Necessities". Now...as you all probably can tell by now my style has evolved into being very simple. I normally color correct, fix my contrast in Curves, and dodge and burn if I have to. That's about it... I am NOT an "actions" person. But after reading about this new set and seeing firsthand examples along with tons of great testimony from fellow photographers, I decided it was a worthwhile investment. Basically, I categorize anything that can speed up my work flow and give me more time for my family a "worthwhile investment" :) I was playing around today just getting to know this new set of mine (there are a gazillion wonderful options) and I am in LOVE with the results. Although I must admit, using Miss Grayson for my model is kind of like cheating - the girl was a perfect angel her whole session, and has gorgeous skin...but still. Here are two "before and afters" for you to see what I mean. I think this is one of the first times I'm ever posting images "Straight Out Of Camera" so I'm a little nervous, but hey - if it helps someone else out there see the light and purchase this awesome set, than I'll be happy that I did so. THANK YOU, Jodi, for creating this masterpiece and sharing it with the world! You rock!!!
